We join the World Food Day and spread awareness messages about it, in line with our vocation to share knowledge.

On October 16 is World Food Day and we join the FAO message: Grow, nourish, sustain. Together.

World Food Day is calling for global solidarity to help the most vulnerable to recover from the pandemic and to make food systems more resilient and robust so they can withstand increasing volatility and climate shocks, deliver affordable and sustainable healthy diets for all, and decent livelihoods for food system workers.

At Semillas Fitó we work to facilitate global access to safe and nutritious food from the seeds. We build long-term, trust-based relationships with our #FoodHeroes, farmers and workers across the agri-food chain, to ensure food supply even in tough times. In addition, we employ sustainable innovation that favors the preservation of the planet, considered essential by FAO to achieve a #ZeroHunger world and face the challenge of climate change.

In accordance with our social commitment and with the aim of creating greater awareness, we have created several videos with data provided by FAO on food waste, the difficulties of the agricultural sector and world hunger.

We also highlight one of the main food trends that often generates confusion and debate: organic food. Hence, we have organized a webinar addressed to our coworkers about the myths and truths of organic farming. Israel Roca, Head of Sales & Marketing Europe at Semillas Fitó, and Paco Casallo, CEO of HaciendasBio, will discuss some concepts such as: are organic foods healthier?, is it possible to feed the world only with organic farming? or is it the same “bio”, “eco” and “organic”?, and they will share their respective points of view on this topic.

The current health crisis is making us value our most basic needs, such as food, and now more than ever we must raise awareness and support vulnerable groups that lack them, as well as give recognition to the people who work every day to supply the world.
